The Microbiology Postgraduate Program accepts foreign applicants for Masters or PhD. The microbiology knowledge examination can be taken in Portuguese or English. In addition to São Paulo, and other cities in Brazil, the examination is also applied in other cities in South America, such as Bogota (Colombia), Bucaramanga (Colombia), Tumbes (Peru) and Lima (Peru). In the future, we intend to carry out the selection examination in other cities abroad, as demand requires.

According to the current regulation in USP, both the Masters dissertation and PhD thesis may be written in Portuguese or English.

Many of the program’s supervisors have links with universities and research institutions in other countries and several students in the program participate in internships abroad (sandwich scholarship), usually supported by research funding agencies.

The program also supports the participation of PhD students in international conferences, better explained in item ‘scholarships and financial aid.’

The program’s supervisors maintain partnerships with postgraduate programs in other Brazilian universities.
